Tough week puts Brewers on outer

BALLARAT City Brewers suffered a heavy 14-3 loss to bottom team Malvern to end a tough week in Baseball Victoria Summer league division two on Sunday.

The Brewers also had a mid-week 12-4 defeat at the hands of ladder leader Moorabbin.

Although Ballarat has dropped out of the top four to fifth, it is just one point out after fourth-placed Williamstown, which also lost at the weekend.

The Malvern encounter is the first time the Brewers have been on the end of amercy call in their three years in the summer league.Ballarat was still in the contest until a sixth-innings debacle when Malvern platednine runs to set up the early finish.
