Hastings strikes against Indians

FIRED UP: John Hastings celebrates one of his wickets on Sunday, January 17. Picture: Getty ImagesFormer Hawkesbury Cricket Club player John Hastings was called into the Australian one day cricket team last week, and did not waste his opportunity.

Hastings was originally called up for the second one day international match against India to replace all-rounder Mitch Marsh.

He was retained for the third match, as Australia decided to rest pace bowler Josh Hazlewood after a busy summer of test cricket.

The fourth match will be played today in Canberra, and Hastings is a chance to play in that match too.

In the second match, Hastings took one wicket, but also had a run-out.

He claimed Ravi Ashwin with the ball, while his fielding also claimed Ravindrasinh Jadeja.

In the third match, played on Sunday, Hastings took four wickets, including that of Virat Kohli, who had made a century.

Hastings was not required to bat in the second match, and while he went out to the middle in the third match, he did not face a ball.
