But this Australia Day she will become an Australian citizen at a special ceremony in Rockdale.

It was love that brought her to Australia 10 years ago; she followed her now husband Ivan after the pair met while he was travelling.

“I never, ever, thought that I would end up here. I remember the day when I got my visa I actually started crying because I understood that I’m leaving everything behind,” she said.

“It was a massive change but I have no regrets.”

The pair settled in Sans Souci and have lived there ever since.

She said she was amazed when she first stepped onto Australian soil.

“I’d never seen the ocean. It was just the greatest experience of discovering something new,” she said.

“No matter where you go in parts of Sydney there’s something new.”

Mrs Mora said she usually works in retail on Australia Day but this year her husband will join her at an Australia Day ceremony at Dolls Point.

“I’ll have a few hours off so hopefully we can have a barbecue,” she said.
